Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer

 

Father Steve grew up in St. Patrick Parish, here in Janesville, went to St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, and was ordained in 1966.  He served as an associate pastor at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Cross Plains, and also as a teacher at Holy Name Seminary in Madison. 

1972-1980    -- founded the Office of Communications for the Diocese of Madison, and also served as a board member and an officer in Unda-USA (national Catholic assoc. for broadcasters) during most of that time.

Since arriving here in June, 2002, Father Steve’s life has revolved around our liturgical life, our parish school, and religious education program.  Outside the parish, he serves on the Clinical Ethics Committee of the Mercy Health System.  He sings bass with the Choral Union, and puts his canoe in a local river, when he gets the chance.
