Resurrection 2009 Chula Vista, Wis Dells
K - 12 GENERAL POLICIES
Total Religious Formation: The total religious formation and spiritual development of our youth comes not only from instruction, but from example and participation in the larger faith community. Regular attendance at Mass is considered essential for this development to take place.
Registration: The registration form completed by parent(s) or guardian(s) is our permission to teach religion to your child(ren), and must be submitted for all children who will be participating in any of the religious education programs at Nativity of Mary. The medical information requested on the back of the registration form is intended for use in emergencies. A shorter permission form will be required for individual field trips and events. Any change in medical information should be submitted to the religious education office.
Transportation: Parents are responsible for the safe transfer of their children to and from religious education sessions and activities. A properly signed permission form will be required for any child before participation in activities away from the parish or primary site.
Attendance: Regular attendance is important to your child's successful religious education. If your child/teen needs to miss class, please contact the Religious Education Coordinators at:
M – F 7am– 3:30 pm Heather, 752-7861; after 4 pm on Friday call: K-8 Jan Bier 608-774-5916 or Teresa Pickarts 608-201-1943; 9 – Confirmation Colleen Szerlong 608-346-3383 or Val Crofts 608-758-2492.
The Diocese requires that a call be made to your home if your child is absent and we have not heard from you. If you wish to be on the “no-call” list for absences, you will need to sign a waiver and return it to the religious education office.
Cancellations: Generally, Sunday morning classes for K-12 will not be cancelled unless there is a major snow or ice storm severely restricting travel (Please look at the Door for a sign before dropping off your youth) in these storm situations. Cancellations will be announced on the local radio stations.
Communication: Please read any and all notes brought home to you. Also, the weekly church bulletins will often contain announcements about religious education activities. Asking children or young persons what they talked about in class is a good way to keep informed and to let them know you are interested in this aspect of their development as Catholic Christians. You are always welcome to visit the classes.
We will notify parents about any inappropriate behavior and will discuss attendance in the program if the behavior doesn’t improve.
Special Needs: If there are any special needs or special circumstances that might affect your child's learning or behavior, please share this information with any of the coordinators. We would like to make the time each child spends in religious education groups a positive experience, and being sensitive to special needs is one way to do this. If such information needs to be shared with the catechist, it will be done on a confidential basis.
We welcome your family with great enthusiasm.
Thank you.
